On April 18, 2009 Declan had his first birthday. We celebrated with a day at Toro Canyon Park, a gorgeous park up in the hills behind Carpinteria. We felt so blessed to have so many friends and family come from so far! Thank you all for coming and celebrating this day with us!We can't believe Dex is one already. It's been so amazing to watch him grow and learn every day. Today he loves wheels and balls and "mmm" Cheerios and putting things in things and taking things out and giving big hugs and wet kisses...
We love you so much little boy! Every day you are incredible!

I like the nickname too- Dex.
Lately we've been calling Makaio "Coyote" because some kids were teasing him with this nick at school & he was so upset about it but we convinced him it was totally cool- told him whenever people call him that to just howl. He loves it now- it's too cute!
