The Jesusita Fire blew some heavy smoke down on us yesterday afternoon. Later in the evening the winds shifted and took it in another direction, which was a relief for us but, sadly, I think bad for firefighting efforts. Our friends Julia & Eric were evacuated yesterday evening, so they packed up as much as they could, brought their kitty Miso over and we had a slumber party here. Eppie was her usual less-than-gracious self, but we worked it out.

Jeff took these pictures from the overpass near our house last night.
Please pray they get the fire under control this morning before the winds pick back up later today. At least twenty homes have burned so far, which is far less than the 200+ burned in the Tea Fire six months ago, but there have been far more injuries. Ten firefighters have been hospitalized. Please pray for their recovery and the safety of those who continue to fight.

Oh my goodness! How scary!
I can't believe there are more fires so soon... though it has been dry here too- eager for the summer rains. Although Cali will just be getting dryer won't it?
Drink lots of hot fluids- that ashy smoke can be rough on the lungs.
